A military appeals court halted the murder case against Maj. Nidal Hasan on Wednesday over the Army psychiatrist's refusal to shave his beard before his scheduled trial in the 2009 killings at Fort Hood, Texas.
Hasan's court-martial had been scheduled to start Monday at Fort Hood, where he is accused of killing 13 people and wounding another 32. He had appealed the presiding judge's order to shave the beard he has grown while awaiting trial, which is against Army grooming regulations, leading the judge to threaten to have him forcibly shaved.
