in the past it was a kind of honour to be asked curate. Like them or loathe them the likes of Sonic Youth, Tortoise, Mogwai, Shellac and Autechre are/were incredibly influential underground groups who had been plugging away for years. It was a nod of recognition. What have Explosions in the Sky done other than rip off some of the aforementioned curators?

They are if they want to mine the same seam of math rock & wierdy folk that they concentrate on.

There is no shortage of people who would make great curators. If you had someone like Steve Earle, Jonathan Richmann, Stephen Merritt, you could have a great and interesting lineup

i'd love to see High On Fire curate

i really liked the idea of having a different person curate each day
remember Malkmus/Sonic Youth/ATP? that was a cool weekend
and you got something different each day

i'd love to see them get someone like John Foxx to curate a weekend of synth stuff

make some more interesting choices instead of the usual indie bullshit
the one last christmas was one of my favourite fesitval experiences ever

The Matt Groening one was interesting too even though it fell apart a bit - Why does it have to be a band - anyone with taste and enough influence to entice people to play would be cool.
