okay getting sense out of the call centre staff at the travel company has been dificult but heres the real low down on tunisia.

firstly the more the merrier on this trip - so if you dont know me so well theres a lot of nice peopel going etc. they might even post their intentions - you never know

because there is about 12-15 expressions of interest we cant go on the 24th of jan but we can go on jan 31st for two weeks due to availability, this is a little bit dearer but not a lot.

holiday is with panorama and is on page 92 of their winter sun brochure, 2nd edition, get it in a travel agents

the place we will stay is called el kanta residence. staying in self caterign apartments that take up to 4 people. they have a website where you can see pics of inside the apartments, one really big room divided itno bedroom for two and sittingroom with sofa beds and tv, kitchen etc, have a look, it seems really good to me.
http://www.hotel-kanta-tunisia.com/

click on apartments to see the accom.
site also shows you the many swimming pools indoor and outdoor, tennis courts - free if you have rackets etc yourself, a games room with tabletennis and a disco - though in the picture of the disco it has really old people in it so we may have to take this over.

as an aside the disco in town is called metallica!

when we divide up the group discount the prices work out like this, including flights, accom, insurance. definite prices
4 peopel sharing an appartment 377 euro each for 14 nights
3 peopel sharing an appartment 415 euro each for 14 night
2 peopel sharing an appartment 447 euro each for 14 nights

we need 9 for the discount, i think we will have at least 12 -15

i list different options as though the appartments look grand to me for 4 some of ye might want privacy or we may have an odd numebr or something ( though in case of odd number we should all pay same)

The place is called port el kantaoui, its 5 km from sousse, 20 km from monastir. heres a map
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/africa/tunisia/tunisia.htm

theres some real interesting places there in that region eg el- jem, where life of brian was filmed in the market and coliseum ( peopels front of judea etc) as well as the beach, etc

read about shit like this at
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinations/africa/tunisia/

you can get a unlimited journeys train ticket for a week to anywhere in the country for twenty sterling so transport is cheap and fairly modern, basically you can do as much or as little as you like.

for footie heads:
cause we are going a week later we get less matches but better quality eg 2 first round matches, choice of two quarter finals and 3rd place palyoff all are within 10 - 50 mins away so we still get to see nigeria, cameroon etc barring a load of freak results.

footie tickets will be cheap last tiem they were around 2 quid for early matches!
so .......

if you want to go and i think it will be a cracker this is what you have to do

deposit is 75 euro - non returnable.

rest gets paid 8 weeks before we go - 30 quid a week put aside would do it i reckon and ask the relatives for crimbo spending money presents!

email me that "i definitely want to go so i will defo pay the deposit" with your name and d.o.b to kotsp@iol.ie

deadline is next wednesday, oct 15th at 11 p.m. as i'm goign to book the next day

let me know in that email if you want a two/ 3 / 4 person room so i can work out the arrangements etc.

also let me know if you dont want peopel to know your goign as i have been getting asked whos goign - i will probably post a list here so as i am sure i have got all emails etc.

i will then book for that many and pay deposit. you then pay me the deposit by some method i will email you with - probably bank draft in the post or cash in the pub
( dangerous!) or something. i will post up confiramtion numebr or something so as you know this isnt going towards my drink habit !

and thats it, two weeks in africa from 377.

fianlly once off the plane i am retiring form organising role so your on your own folks, im off to the bar, tennis, disco and football in that order.
swimming is for fish!

heres an article on soem of the local culture that makes this a lot different than ireland switzerland - magic and witchdoctors in the last finals etc
