Major Complaints Thread (2 Viewers)

Was on holidays and out walking the dog after dinner and she was down a small short steep hill with wet grass. I was following her down but I hadn't released the adjustable leash and she pulled me faster than I got a chance to lift my leg. Slippy wet grass didn't help. Fell on my back. Heard a crack and watched my ankle go in a way it's not supposed to. Say up and punched my ankle back in. Hoping I'd just relocated a dislocated ankle or something.
Very cleverly left my phone with the missus 🤦🏻
Hobbled back to the boat we rented. Spent most of the night in agony.
Xanax and solpadeine was a blessing
Was hoping it was only dislocated and/or sprained but it's full break. Nurses said I saved them some work by popping it back in to alignment 😂.

6-8 weeks in the cast. Still hurts like fook. Never broke a bone before.
Technically broke my leg not my ankle -
Fibula, down near the ankle

Supposed to be starting a new job in a few weeks so I spose that's getting delayed

I was off work for almost 6 months when I broke my ankle. The days before working from home was a thing. Coming home pissed after a night out I thought I heard someone behind me as I approached my front door. I turned and stepped in a recessed drain and heard a snap and fell over.
I was wearing these stupid things so that might have been a contributing factor.

A friend of mine had a similar break recently. She was up and about in maybe three weeks with a big modern cast thing. She's older than you and probably less healthy. It took a little longer for her to get back to work, but she's a bartender who cycles everywhere.

Not that I'm saying you should rush anything of course. Don't get too down in the dumps about it.

Broke my ankle

my broken ankle story:

The then laois minor goal keeper fell on my foot at a charity gig in the school played by up and coming local band mesner

I hobbled to the nurses office (being a former boarding school we had a 'matron' who largely handed out painkillers and lemsip). she was heading home, so a brother who was off active teaching as he apparently attacked a student with a hurl back in the 80s drove me into A+E in portlaoise, and left me at the door to hobble into reception by myself.

Where they patched me up in a cast, and told me to wait. After about an hour I limped out looking for someone (A+E was empty), and some nurse handed me cruthces, a referral card, and told me to go home.

simpler times...if it happened now the school would get sued for $$$$$$$

When I broke mine, I got one of those sports injury straps in the chemist. I walked aorund on it for a week. When I realised it wasn't getting any better, I went to A&E. They told me putting that strap on it was the worst thing I could have done.
