fair play! how are you getting on witht he bike these days?
The bike is great
I need the work

And I rode blind with no computer yesterday - which messed me up a little. Like I could have used a push at times.
Happy enough with 3:15 on 90k in very hot conditions and over 1,000m of elevation gain
But I have a 3:00 in me, for sure. Just gotta get it out.
You're also trying to save something for the run, so it's messy.

The bike does everything I ask of it. A wonderful machine.

Kinda odd on these races, dudes with SUPER equipment. Tri-bike and arrow helmets and all this and they are just not strong cyclists or they haven't done the work.
I think people focus on the wrong things sometimes.

plenty of cyclists who think they can buy their way into greater speed. though there are some gains to be made.
my boss was humming and hawing over spending a shit ton on a new bike a couple of years ago; his aim was to finish the ironman in under a certain time.
i pointed out to him that if he finished it a minute slower than his goal, that minute might be the difference between the old bike and a new one; was that minute worth all the time and effort he'd put into training?
he bought the bike. €7k.

Do you know what the time was?

Did he race in a Full or Half?

How'd the swim go? Are you happier where you are with that now?

My fastest time over that distance
BUT it was in a river with the current
I was 97th out of 100 in my AG

I wouldn't say I'm happy with it, but I'm at peace with it
Just going to keep doing the next right thing

Thanks for asking

I've got variety and style. It's just really fucking subtle alright.

I've never worked in that capacity there. I wasn't there.
The staff there are actually quite nice. When I came back from Russia I did do a job there, on a Heineken stand. Got loads of free beer. Walked the many miles home, stopped in a hostel and bumped into a bunch of other lost souls who had also just been in Russia. One of them was Irish. it was St. Patrick's day, Things got mad. And none of them had work in the morning.

Arrived at work next day, steaming, working with a bunch of people I'd never met because I'd been out of London for months. Here's me throwing my experience around. Here's them looking at a boozy dude they'd never met before.
One of them had an Annihilator hoodie. I asked and he said yeah, I just came off tour with Annihilator. He obviously deals with that life better than I.

Then when it was done, I opened my backpack and discovered four cans that I had no recollection of buying. They all laughed. At least those were the beers I didn't drink.

I'm still mates with the guy that proper squared up to me that day.

Thanks for dragging that memory up.
