Exit Stage Left: Gigs You Walked Out From (1 Viewer)

Boris. Tuneless, boring, leather trousers.
International Noise Conspiracy. Thought I was going to see an evolution of the Refused, instead got a band who thought they were The Rolling Stones. Also leather trousers.

I guess I don’t like “we’re a rock band” bands.

Fear Factory in Ambassador.I wasn't really feeling like going anyway, but, the support, Janus stark were so unbearably awful. I couldn't be in the same room as that rubbish.

Another refugee from the Chili Peppers here. Left the Phoenix Park after the Pixies' set. Also bailed early on Arcade Fire in Marlay Park, again after the Pixies finished.

Had to leave loads of gigs early to get the last bus. Missed the end of Do Make Say Think in Whelan's - they were class

Green Day at RKH. Got on guest list just to see Rancid basically, they were great. Lasted about 7 songs of Green Day, then went Fuck It. As I was leaving, they were just starting to butcher Longview/Welcome to Paradise. 5 minute guitar solo in the middle with Billie Joe talking shit over it.

In the other thread I think I said Bruce Springsteen solo was the best gig or whatever.
It wouldn't be now, but it was at the time.

Tickets sold out in 80 seconds or something. We had spares because one of our group wrangled a back stage pass. The spare tickets went to guys who left during the second song. "It's just him singing and talking". That was a bluesy harmonica and stomp board version of Reason To Believe.

We were appalled. Betrayed, even. There was plenty of other people who'd have taken those tickets.

Surprised at the big crap gigs some of youse have been to.

At Sunstroke 1993 RHCP were supposed to headline but cancelled and FNM played instead. Phew! I dodged a bullet there. First gig and never went to a big outdoor gig after that.

there was a very weird gig in marlay park in 2005 or so, where sonic youth supported the chemical brothers. place was barely half full, it was on a weekday. sonic youth came on at probably 6pm or so, played a decent enough set, then I left. I cycled to and from the gig, I remember being home by a bit after 8pm and thinking that it was a strange feeling to have just seen sonic youth and also still have a whole evening ahead of me. I think I might have made a dinner and watched a movie.

I did the same at that Marley Park gig, except I left and went to the pub. Some band who used to be mocked mercilessly on thumped played before Sonic Youth. I wasn't going to go to that, it was expensive to see Sonic Youth play a support set in a field but a friend had Thurston’s email address and shamelessly asked if four of us could go on the guest list and it worked! Kim played trumpet on PCH
