Ordinarily I'd say that artistic achievement is measured in terms of the level of satisfaction that the creator gets from doing the work and how close to their idea they've managed to realise something. And that exterior things like critical response or commercial success should be disregarded.

And fundamentally I truly do believe that.

But my mates have the number 1 record in the country today and I'm super thrilled for them.

Edit: I bought their record on Tuesday, I should probably listen to it at some point.

That "Illuminate" tune is one of the best Irish tunes ever, imo. Soundtracked my summer last year. Wiki tells me it only got to number 44 on the Irish charts. Delighted the album has done the business now.
 
This is the first day in months I haven't felt mad pressure at work to meet deadlines
