Two Congos. The one you are talking about (though I realise of course that you really have no idea what you are talking about) was indeed originally colonised by the Portuguese but was later taken over by the French. It is consequently much more culturally influenced by France and this is reflected by the fact that French is an official language (as opposed to countries like Angola and Mozambique where the Portuguese language would be spoken widely). The other Congo, which is much larger, was formerly known as Zaire (under the leadership of Mobuto Seko Seko), and is usually what people are referring to when they mention "the Congo". This was previously a Belgian colony and the setting/inspiration for Conrad's "Heart Of Darkness" among many other things. There is no reason why citizens of either of these countries would hold a Portuguese passport.

The larger Congo, as I never tire of pointing out, has some of the most amazing music in the world. This is not to say that the smaller one does not have amazing music also. I don't know. I've never heard any of it.

Oh yeah - I've just remembered that the smaller Congo (the one that was originally Portuguese and later French, you know, the one you know nothing about) was also the setting for Redmond O'Hanlon's bizzare travelogue "Congo Journey". Great book.

Supposed to be wicked grass over there too.

Like, just bushes of it growing about the place.

Between that and the tunes..I would'nt mind going on a hollyer there

Yeah me too. It's pretty dangerous though so realistically it's probably never gonna happen.

Yes, that's right! I was just thinking about that after I made that post. But ..... he was in Gambia, right? A whole different ballgame ..... When I say "it's dangerous" I mean the Congo specifically, not Africa in general. I spent some time in East Africa once .. it was great.

No man..He was in the Congo.

Had a fucking whale of a time!

Said the people were fucking sound out hai

I was super impressed.I'd fucking love to head over to Africa..not before I go to India first though

My sister went on a day trip to the Congo (the big one), to Goma. It was during a brief calm period between the strife and volcanoes. She said the people were very welcoming, thrilled to see a tourist. This was a while ago now.
