PPI (Phonographic Performance Ireland Limited) which represents record companies big and small in Ireland reveal the Top 30 most played international and Irish songs as they meet today for their annual AGM.
Compiled by PPI from 37 national and local stations, the list throws up a number of surprises.
Out of the 2.6 million airplays on Irish Radio in 2011, the most played song in Ireland was Jessie J 'Price Tag' followed on by a close second with Maroon 5 'Moves like Jagger'. The third most played song will come as no surprise with Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' pipping J Lo/ Pitbull 'On the Floor' in fourth position. Bruno Mars takes both fifth and sixth position with his two smash hits 'Lazy Song' and Grenade'.
There were 3 Irish artists hitting the top 30 most played chart, The Script coming in at #7 'If Ever You Come Back', followed by Royseven with 'We Should be Lovers' at # 11 and Voice of Ireland coach Bressie in at #21 'Can't Stay Young Forever' .
'Its very gratifying to see how well Irish artists have performed in the chart against such stiff international competition' Dick Doyle CEO PPI (Ltd)
It's been a good year on Irish radio for Grammy Award winning singer Bruno Mars, with 4 separate singles making it into the most played tracks on radio (The Lazy Song #4 , Grenade # 6, Marry You # 17 and Just the Way You Are #28 ).
