are you being racist now? fupping shocker

Huh? Am I?

I'm just not really with this whole big 'Gotcha!' game when someone says the word 'black'.
Race relations have to move beyond it. We have some measure of equality or harmony now (at least in comaprison to what went before) and I don't think these mini witch hunts are helpful.
"He said 'black'! Get him!"
There's clearly no attempt to insult or offend here.
Knee-jerk bullshit to my ears.

Of course the real elephant in the room is that the best breakdancers (are they still even called that?) aren't black, it's a very mixed bunch all in all.
Pat would, of course, want to smarten the fuck up on that score.

Look at them white boys go

Pat Kenny saying the word 'black' or making a comment that the best breakdancers in NY are all black, isn't what people are upset about. There'd be nothing wrong if that's all he said, it might be a little narrow minded, but whatever cos there's nothing wrong with making that observation, it's not offensive.

But he suggested to a child that he 'colour' up his face to fit in while he's there! That's the sentence people have issue with. It's not a witch hunt or a 'gotcha' moment. But c'mon, what are we living in..the bleedin 50s or something?
