Owen Pallett – Whelans, 27th June

Harmonic announced this afternoon that, fresh from his Sunday night performance in Cork, Owen Pallett will be playing a surprise gig in Whelans on Monday night.

A bigger surprise? It’s only €5 in.

Owen Pallett is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and orchestral arranger from Toronto who, for much of the ’00s, recorded under the name Final Fantasy. Pallett’s live shows find him looping numerous violin and keyboard parts into constructed songs. He’s also well known for having arranged albums by Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, the Mountain Goats, and the Last Shadow Puppets.

It’s a rare occasion to catch someone of Pallett’s immense stature in a venue as intimate as Whelan’s and an even rarer opportunity to catch Pallett in action for little more than the price of a pint and thanks to the persuasive powers of Harmonic you can do exactly that tomorrow night in Whelan’s.

€5 in? What is this – The Attic in ’96 or something?
