the WAGES of sin is death, hector. transfer fees aren't comparable. they're usually not lump sum payments, for one thing, and are just a factor given to the value of the player as it falls (amortisation) over the duration of the contract. eg so a £20m signing on a 5 year contract is an equivalent deal to a £16m signing on a 4 year contract, as each lose £4m in value per year. but the wages are where the club spends money and that's why City are now making a mockery of UEFA with their 'naming rights' deal. Sickening.
