The #1s – Sharon Shouldn’t

The #1s will release their new 7″ Sharon Shouldn’t this Friday.

Sharon Shouldn’t is their third release, following their Italia ’90 cassette and a self-titled 7″ on Art For Blind.

Hearing The #1s for the first time, you’d be forgiven for assuming that they were some long-lost band from the golden age of of 70s power pop, their recordings recovered by a resourceful digger in a dusty attic or charity shop bin. However, this Dublin City band are very much alive and well, playing tough but gentle punk songs that fit in just as well with the ’77 revivalists as they do with the modern garage scene.

Writers have compared them to PROTEX, the LA`s, the VERLAINES, and a million forgotten power pop and punk singles, but every song they’ve committed to vinyl so far stands on its own as a concise statement of pure punky pop bliss. The #1s new 7″ single, Sharon Shouldn’t, comes out next days via two labels: ALIEN SNATCH! Records in Europe and SORRY STATE Records in America and features two b-sides entitled Boy and Girl.

The #1s (Dublin, Ireland) are Conor Lumsden (drums), Cian Nugent (bass), Eddie Kenrick (guitar) and Seán Goucher (guitar), The #1s feature members of CIAN NUGENT & THE COSMOS (Matador/No Quarter), CHEAP FREAKS (Big Neck), STRONG BOYS and The PACIFICS (Bachelor).
