Popical Island release their first vinyl next month in the form of The Comunity Games, a compilation featuring Cave Ghosts, Ginnels, Grand Pocket Orchestra and No Monster Club.
‘The Community Games’ is a brand new collection of songs by four Dublinbased indie pop bands: Cave Ghosts, Ginnels, Grand Pocket Orchestra and No Monster Club. All four groups share members, equipment and a rehearsal room; but the individuality of each project is evident from these songs, ranging from the expansive garage pop of No Monster Club to Cave Ghosts’ reverb-laden beach lullabies, past the infectious plink-plonk indie rock of Grand Pocket Orchestra, and on to Ginnels’ jangly noise jams.
The record will be released with Popical Island on 100 limited edition 12” LPs on April 5th. Ten collectable covers will be available, with each one featuring a mugshot of a different bandmember.
All four bands will be performing at the album launch on Saturday April 13th, Upstairs in Whelan’s. Admission is €5, or €10 with a copy of the LP (while stocks last!).
