ATTENTION!- UNSIGNED BANDS

I am currently researching a music series that has been commissioned by TG4 and NIFTC.

It will be a 6-12 part series highlighting unsigned talent in Ireland. The Aim of the program is to provide a platform for the chosen bands to air their music on a national basis with a view to securing contracts/distro arrangements for the most successful of the bands.

The program will have a loose "Battle of the Bands" theme but will involve interview and interest content to help inform viewers of experiences and tribulations of struggling bands in the Irish music scene.

As this program is to be broadcast on TG4 we have certain requirements regarding the Irish language content.

A member of the band must have a competent level of Irish
or
A close friend or family member with Irish to give interviews.

We ask that your band has a good quality demo, live recording or video evidence of your talent to support your application.

If you think your band fits this description or require further information, please contact me, Fergus Wright @

haha, classic.

my band used to be unsinged, but since the accident with the toaster, we've all been a bit singed round the edges.

edited to add: you might have more luck if you didn't use patronising, pointless terms like 'unsigned' (or even 'unsinged') in the first place. independent musicians tend to regard it as insulting. just my 2c.

I guess this definitely rules out Simon Westons band then?

They're underage anyway

what if they're more irish than the irish themselves?

would that do?

does it matter if the bands songs are all about porn?
could we say 'fuck me with your kempston joystick'?

if so we'd be in like flynn!
meaning errol flynn.. and his big mickey

i know i keep saying it, but its days like this i miss the master of the universe. i saw him on the street d'udder day and started laughing at his hedge-like sideburns, so he ambled over and asked did i play in a band. after all these years....perseverence really is the key.

On a semi related topic, does anyone remeber that Pop on 4 thing TnaG used to broadcast from the TBMC??

I thought it was live and was bored one day so decided I'd go down and get my bare ass on T.V. so I got my flat mate to record the show, walked down to temple bar only to find that they pre record it......

That was a dark day....

post of the week!

Best way for a band to get on TV is to ram-raid a guitar shop and get onto Crimeline.
A clever band would get their Street Team to do this.
