I was in Mackeral about 2 years ago. The food was nice, service good and the restaurant itself is lovely.

Mackerel is lovely. Don't stock up on the lovely bread they give you though or else you'll be a dinghy like what i was.

King Sitric in Howth is also fabluss.

Thank fuck for that. My only condition on eating seafood is that I don't have to eat it in the Lord Ed. My friend had a meal there and said it was really disgusting. Horrible creamy sauces and food a la Dublin in 1959 i.e. before cuisine existed.

yep, lord edward is apparently nicht so gut these days, my folks went after not having been there for about 20 years and were disgustemerated.
mackerel is ace though, yum.

Mermaid Cafe is a lovely spot (or was when I lived in Dublin) and always has a good selection of fish

I've eaten in the Lord Edward twice and was very impressed both times. The cooking wasn't flash or anything but everything was of a really high standard.
