train from Heuston to Portlaoise, then a taxi to Stradbally might work.
according to my timetable there's trains at 4.00pm, 5.30pm, 6.00pm, 6.35pm, 7.15pm. Might be best check with Mainline Rail just to make sure.

Taxi's in Portlaoise are charging €40 to Stradbally! Portlaoise is jammed full of crusties at the mo as the shuttle service from the town was cancelled! It's an 11 mile walk btw!!!
