So perhaps we should be more concerned with the Lion's habitat loss than attacking this woman or maybe check the full quote from wikipedia which states that conflict with humans is also a great concern.

By "conflict with humans" it most likely conflict over resources - i.e. having to share land with humans which inevitably leads to casualities on both sides.

Extinction by trophy hunting is, I expect, very much a thing of the past

This is bad. Killing an animal like that is only justifiable if

1) You want to eat it.

2) Revenge for an unprovoked attack that the animal has carried out.(A dog bites my child for no reason; therefore shoot the bastard)

3) Special effects for a film (like say Cannibal Holocaust).
