I've a notion i was bitching about this before but iconic is a word that has slipped into wide mis-use in recent years and it's annoying.
Like anything that happened this year, even this decade, not iconic.
Anything that happened long enough ago to be considered memorable, particularly in a situation where people have paid visual homage to it, iconic.
People who use iconic in that context are also quite likely to say "unreal" for something that's maybe mildly goodI hear it mostly on the main radio stations by clowns talking about nonsense.
