Galway isn't that original but it rocks, it's easy to get to and there's a decent local transport network for getting to stuff. Possibly overcrowded/heavin' altogether in July/August. Head out to one of the Aran Islands and spend the night/morning in a pub after the tourists have gone. Alternatively, Westport is a nice place for a few laidback days of boozing and going up Croagh Patrick on your knees. Or try West Cork. Or Kerry. If you've a good bunch of friends just get the bus to somewhere you've never been and like the look of, and things should work out fine.

i'd love to say just jump on the ferry in Rosslare and take the overnight bus from fishguard to london... then stay in the Generator youth hostel in London for the week .... but don't know what your parents would think of you guys skipping off to london for the week. you'd have a fucking brillant time though .|..|
