Whatcha listening to? (2 Viewers)

Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban new album
White Stripes Heffalump
Joe Meek i Hear aNew World
Randy Sister MP3s
and the new Capratone album, which kicks ass by the way but will it ever see the light of day?

lately:

mouse on mars - glam - actually old stuff i think but if you like ambient aphex you'll like this.
manitoba - up in flames - pyschadelic electronic folk yay
interpol - turn on the bright lights - silo's suede comparison threw me off the scent for a while, to me they's nothing like suede, lead singer sounds like guy from sisters of mercy, music got an 80's touch to it but with big deep bass and high whining guitars.
pan american - 360 business/360 bypass - loverly ambient poast-rockish shtuff
loose fur - this has really grown on me - absolutely lovvit now, collaboration between wilco and jim o'rourke.

I get a lot of "Suede" off "Interpol", I must say - mainly in the vocal department...

Some listening-objects:

- Wire, "154"

- Matt Elliott, "The Mess We Made"

- Plaid, "Double Figure"

- Spring Heel Jack, "Disappeared"

- Scott Walker, "Scott 3"

herbert - '...'
-> ahhhhhh
66 electric - 'i died in a movie' ep
-> good stuff.
delorentos - 'malevista' demos
-> shite
radiohead - 'oxfords angels'
-> collection of b-sides and unreleased tracks. loads of sickly love songs.. female vocals....
various - 'i am am' OST...
-> some lovely beatles covers..

Jonny cash – 20 foot tapping greats
Devandra Banart – Oh me oh My (new weird folk form America)
Howe – Lull
Elliot smith – figure 8
Cat power - you are free (better than I expected)
White stripes - elepants
Smog - supper
Bonnie Billy – Master…

...and the voice in my head that says 'why are you telling people what you're listening too?'

I don't like Scott Walker. Sacred cow how are you.

I have Scott 2 and the only good songs are the Jacques Brel ones, and the Jacques Brel versions were better - Brel was a better singer.

I don't know why I'm saying this, I don't even like Jacques Brel that much. But I like "Next", and the song about the Bon Bons, and Amsterdam, that was good. Basically it's "In Amsterdam, there are whores and sailors and it's a good place for getting tanked". Big swing of the micky says you, and yeah, maybe you're right. But as far as Chanson Francais goes, he was the alpha and the zenith. Scott Walker didn't even make the alphabet I reckon.

funking deadly album that is... I especially like the wiggly guitar bits on the second track

Jim O'Rourke's 'Insignificance' is currently playing on my headphones and keeps getting better with every listen
