Flying Saucer Attack - S/T (features an amazing cover of Suede's "The Drowners". The album is a lot more shoegaze than I expected)

Landing - Brocade (Any else know these guys? Cut from the same cloth as Windy and Carl)

Strategy - Future Rock (Kranky goes slightly techno. Not really what I expected, but its very good)

VOn Sudenfed - Tromatic Reflexxions (or something)

It's fuckin' deadly

Got it at the weekend - fantastic - it's almost a pop album
Also got:
Seefeel - Quique (2xCD reissue)
- lovely. Went really well with the weather at the weekend.

Set To Explode-7"
Slaughter And The Dogs-do it dog style lp
Stiff Little Fingers-hanx! lp
Marc Bolan & T Rex-the essential collection cd
The Freeze-token bones cd

the band - jubilation

first time i've ever heard and nowhere near as bad as I feared
still not a patch on the early stuff though

Snapper - Shotgun Blossoms (A late 90s NZ band with Peter Gutteridge ex The Clean and The Chills - sound like a mix of the JAMC, Suicide, Loop and Stereolab.)

theory of abstract light - s/t
shellac - excellent italian greyhound
chicken damage - synapse like popcorn
van morrison - complete bang records sessions (the _only_ van record anyone needs: "you want a danish?" "no i just ate" "you want a sandwich?")

just discovered these guys recently. I only discovered them when I saw a clip of their video, Buddy, at the end of this amazing clip of The Dead C performing "Sky" live on the NZ equivalent of TOTP - www.youtube.com/?v=lbyYzyUPGs8

Which leads me, nicely, on to this...

Is this any good?

dead c cd is great, right now esp. garage. throughout the group's 27 year existence, these musicians have consistently redefined what a contemporary jazz ensemble can be, and who they are as a band, each album containing something of immense value.

possibly the greatest album of the year for me.
it's not what one would expect either, it's extremely medolic and rhythmic in very complex ways, and amazingly beautiful in many places, all the while being extremely intense.

Talk Is poison-codensed humanity lp
Civil Diddident-menzies crack lp
