Cosey Fanni Tutti

this remarkable solo album from 1983 (!) sounds for the most part like a cross between stars of the lid, brian eno and third eye foundation. the album's title track and centerpiece features a lecture by cosey on her artwork during the seventies involving her entering the world of pornography and using the resulting magazine images and videos as art pieces (a "performance" which had her blacklisted by most of the artworld and pornographers: an artwork which may be of interest to those with an interest in womens issues and feminism), the speaking of which is buried beneath a soundscape which sounds straight off the orb's "adventures beyond the ultaworld". incredibly ahead of its time.

a cd of ambient remixes of the above album, the occassionally claustrophobic intensity of which is here blurred into a nebulous, hypnotic and soothing sea of warm sounds.

cosey's most recent solo work, this is one of my favourite albums ever. constructed entirely from five minutes of sound recorded at disneyland, this is possibly the coldest, most glacial piece of music i have heard. it has that brilliant sharpness of the winter sun, with incredibly colourful sheets of enlongated slurred voices (voice transformed to point where all that remains is its essential character not the content of words) and halluinatory warped and skittering rhythms. utterly wonderful.
