What movie did you watch last night? (15 Viewers)

Fitzcarraldo. Bizarre. The dialogue is all out of sync, the characters are annoying and insane - Kinski is a freakin' nutcase, the story Maybe it was the hype around the film and the madness involved in the making of it, but it just didn't do anything for me. not particularly engaging - if the indians murdered the whole lot of them I wouldnt have given a damn.

Even the marvellously insane task of dragging the boat over a huge mass of land was entirely boring.. and when 2 indians died, they just wriggled about a bit - no fricken drama - while Fitz did a dance. it just seems like the real interesting element to this film is what you don't see - the making of it and the insane shit that Herzog/Kinski were up to.. including the local chief offering to murder Kinski and Herzog telling him no because they werent finished filming!

anyway..still, there were good moments and I laughed at a lot of it...which made it enjoyable.

overall though, a disappointment.

An Inconvenient Truth.

Great. Very infotaining. Although, inevitably, one spends much of it thinking that, if only Gore could have displayed any of the warmth and wit he demonstrates here during the 2000 Election Campaign, the world would be an infinitely better place.

As per the suggestions during the credits, I now plan to buy a hybrid car and run for Congress.

Or, y'know, whichever.

Incidentally.

finally finished the 5 Sopranos box sets tonight so it was straight back to the movies -

Mission Impossible 111, which was ok i guess, followed by Cypher, which was ok i guess

Ah - I loved Cypher. Some of the best sound design I've heard in a sci-fi movie in ages too.

Match point. Worst woody allen flick so far. Really thin plot, characters had the depth of a frying pan, and it's one film where JRM's pouting mick jagger impersonation just dint fit. Lousy. Boo. I did'nt even get to see scarletts jabs.

ah i just found it a bit predictable. the only sound design i noticed were the fucking headache noises that had me lunging for the remote to turn it down....

yea quite a lot of his films are surprisingly dull, given the reputation.not nosferatu though, that's ace!

The Davinci code

I never read the book and know little about it etc but I am guessing that if I was one of these people that was into that theory/fans etc I would be pissed off at the film.
Also twas very slow, loved Hostel the nite b4, I really felt like that could happen.

Saw "Inside Deep Throat" the doc about the famous porn film. Pretty interesting.

My God they had some good contributors - Normon Mailer, Gore Vidal, Camile Paglia, Erica Jong.

Apparently Stuary Manconie was invited but was doing 50 best crufts moments on channel 4 or something.

Chilkdren of Men.

Brilliant. In a disturbingly quasi-realistic way.

Michael Caine was deadly.

But it just works on an incredible number of levels.

Haven't thought a film was this good in ages.

I've heard a few people saying they were blown away by this.
Really looking forward to seeing it now.
