I think we're talking about different things here dude. I thought The Scientician's original question was about rights in the abstract, moral sense where you're talking about them in the legal sense. I most people would agree that it's morally ok to kill someone in self-defence, or in defence of your family, and therefore the moral right to life is not absolutethere is no right to kill in self-defence that is prescribed in the law

Manslaughter is killing which is without premeditation nothing to do with whether it is in self defence or not. You do have a right to kill in self defence provided your actions are proportionate to the threat to yourself.
