What’s sedebrand? (1 Viewer)

I’m reading The Unforeseen by Dorothy Macardle which was first published in 1945. In it one of the characters mentions a “cup of sedebrand” - I Googled it and nothing relevant popped up. Anyone know what it is?

I wonder if it’s heather tea? The book is set in Enniskerry in the 1940s so could be a folk recipe to calm nerves? Which would make sense in the context.

Ooh, that could be the most parsimonious explanation. I’m reading a recent republishing of the book but there doesn’t seem to be any sort of revision of the text and “sedebrand” is in a pdf of the first edition that I found. Certainly fits well in the context to be offering someone a brandy.
