Hi fellow Thumpers,

Just wondering if anyone has any helpful links regarding vinyl pressing or if anyone can help me out with a "do's and dont's" type list concerning getting your tunes pressed onto vinyl properly and what options are available to the punter ? E.G., is it better to get a 12" pressed at 33 or 45 rpm and are there different depths and rates of cut that you can specify ? Also, it would be really helpful to get info from anyone with any experience of mastering when it comes to vinyl.

Thanks muchly,
Cyclotron.

yeah, it explains everything. we (compactrisc recs.) are just finishing up the mastering for our first vinyl release and we've basically worked out two plans of action, a most expensive option and a least expensive one. the most expensive is about 850/860 euro which includes basically everything: 400 copies of coloured vinyl, endless groove, everything you'd need (including shipping and vat at 21%) plus a lot more stuff we wont need. the other option (i can't exactly remember the figures) is in and about 540 euro for a basic package, with out all the above frills, but including shipping for 300 records.
hope this helps to get a basic overview.

herv.
