I want to play a video on a continuous loop at a function where people will be coming and going throughout the day. Any suggestions? What format would best suit the occasion and how would I get a video converted to that format?

play it on a tv/monitor/projector?

if its a monitor or projector suppose you could just play it in winamp and click the loop button so it plays over and over.

if you want to play it on a dvd player you could author the dvd so its loops by itself. depending on what dvd authoring software you have.

can you give a bit more information on your source material... is it shit off a DVD/video camera/other/etc.? Is it animated/real video footage? and would you want it fairly high res?

a lot of the video players run in fullscreen don't they? quicktime, windows media player....

Its a VHS video that will be shown on a large screen/wall and needs to be decent to high res. It's kind of a student ed. thing. All your recommendations are really helpful so thanks very much.

Best thing to do is to is create a dvd with an infinate loop.
If your in a collage, and you have a a/v department, go there
you need to capture the footage using any video editing software through an sd box to convert your signal from analogue to digital.
From your editing software export the footage as an mpeg2
then use this in your dvd software to create an infinate loop dvd.
