USB recording thingy (1 Viewer)

I know fuck all about recording but I want to get my hands on the equivalent of a four track with USB connection? I went into Walton's for ideas and they have a device with one input plus mic for 110 quid and next one up has 4 inputs plus mic for 450euro. Waltons are overpriced on everything so Im assuming this is the case with these. Anyone know where I could get me hands on something decent for cheaper and also anyone know if these yolks are any good in the first place?

weirdly enough Waltons have ussually been pretty good on recording equipment prices... can probably afford to be after ripping off all the kids with nasty cheap guitars (*joke*)
