Why do people get 'angry' about grammar/spelling mistakes? What difference does it make whether there are grammar/spelling mistakes or not, as long as the intended meaning is transmitted? Normally a there/their slip up won't affect your comprehension of a sentence. So whats the big deal? Anyway, its through these kind of things that languages evolve.

you are obviously a kite.

...and what's the story with "I do be going to..." ????

Was it Snaky or maybe Morgan who told me that in Irish there is no word for 'am' and this has thus influenced the spoken word?

Another example from the conversation I remember is "...and he in the pub, having his pint." Though I'm not sure what the context of the example was, I still remember the example.

Snaky? Wasn't this in Tipperary?

By the way, anyone want to go to the hurling match at Croake on Sunday?

a mate of mine came home locked one night to find his brother passed out in the jacks with his keks down. He tried to write small cock on his stomach with a permanent marker, but in his drunken state wrote "small cook" - hee hee.

It was me, I reckon. Morgan don't know him grammur for shitt.

I gave you the low down on what's up with Irish people, do you remember that? And you aired all your grievances.

By the way, you got the "its" wrong back there.

"It's" means "it is".

"Its" is the possessive form of "it".

I think "CD's" is the biggest offender. It's "CDs", people.

oh jesus - the way some American's say:

"I could give a fuck"

when they clearly mean

"I couldn't give a fuck"

Its almost as if they don't listen to themselves.

They always say 'I could care less' too. That's just stupid.

As for the Irish thing, apparently the use of after is also an influence from the Irish language when used like this: "I'm after having me dinner" or something.

yes yes yes

thats the exact same thing - in fact its probably what i was thinking of first before idecided i could do an example with swearing in it.
