The down south accent is infectious. Generally after spending any amount of time down south or with southerners I find that my thoughts go into an Irish accent and I use many of the words mentioned here. Then it slips into my speaking for a while.

I wish I had a southern accent........:(

I had a french letter on.

There was one knocking about Tallaght for a bit, "Jonny bucket". Which grew into Johny-er.
Muppet ~= Johnyer.

Also, anyone ever use Gunter?
As in, "me bike was bollixed, but I managed to gunter the rear wheel aligner back on with a hammer and some silicon."

Guntering was the the art of fix your bike (and later anything mechanical) with hammers, and Silicone paste.

Actually I have a funny scéal for yiz. This is actually true, no joke.

One of my brothers and his typical Dub friend went over to Germany to visit another of my brothers.

Neither of them had German and they relied on my brother to order and buy stuff for them etc. They ventured out for dinner one evening without the German-resident brother, so they didn't have the fluent German safety net they had been used to.

The two of them sat in the restaurant looking at the German menu thinking "bleedin hell how are we gonna do this?"

So my brother suggests to his friend, "OK, we'll just test the water to see if they might speak English. If we just try to speak slowly and clearly it might be ok.

"Grand, good idea boss", says the friend.

So, waiter comes over and the friend, taking my brother's advice, looks the waiter sqaure in the eye, points at the menu and says, really slowly and deliberately, "What's. The. Story. With. A. Bit. Of. Grub?"
My brother promptly wet himself.
