I had a listen to Copia by Eluvium (2007 album) there over the weekend, and it's really good. It has some purely ambient pieces, but also some more lively bits where you can make out the notes. Probably my favorite of this sort of thing that I've heard.

that's a decent list alright... though i would choose on "on land" over "airports" for eno's ambient. great to see "apollo" - my personal favourite of his work - on there. "an ending" is a gorgeous track.

that caretaker album is great, as are "we'll all go riding on a rainbow" and "deleted scenes / forgotten dreams".

my own picks for ambient music would be:

the best of Eno's Ambient series - That would be "On Land".

Thanks for the tip. That album is amazing.

Veiled Sisters (one and two) by Muslimgauze are really great too. Not sure if it could be classified as ambient in the traditional sense but very atmosphereic and droney.
