Thomann are great. Bought a cheap and (so far) reliable PA off of them. Highly recommended.

yep. bought soundcards and stuff off them. no problemo. think it took 2 weeks to deliver.
have a firend who had a bit of trouble ,though, he bought a set of speakers and one was damaged. The told him he'd have to pay for the postage to get it sent back to them. got it back in the end though i think. just took ages.

they are excellent. although i was not impressed when they asked me to send a scan of my credit card by email. Hardly safe now is it. So i blocked out all the numbers in photoshop and sent it like that.

Lot of places going that way now, got some camera stuff from www.hotbuyselectronics.com and they asked for scans of cards and passport(!).

yeah, thomann know the score. me and my mates have ordered a good bit of stuff off them and we haven't been let down yet. flat rate of shipping is only about 20 euro so it's not too bad.

this seems to be pretty frequent lately. very annoying, especially if you want something quick.

a friend of mine was asked for a front and back scan of his credit card which is ridiculous. then they get your security code too.

!ninjaaaa

Quick tip: remember to shop around in the shops in town (if you are in Dublin that is) and try out any gear* you see on thomann that is available over here. Act like you are interested and try out as much stuff as possible. It will in all likelihood be half the price on thomann, I don't know how music shops are staying open in this country, they are being exposed as rip off merchants same as most other retailers here, due to the internet, introduction oof the euro etc.
I would happily pay a premiun to keep a decent independent retailer in business but the discrepancy in prices is beyond a joke.

* This is especially important with behringer products. They are cheap and cheerful for a reason, most notably they rip off copyrighted designs and pay starvation wages to their chinese employees, however I have heard some of their stuff is of a very acceptable quality for the price. Most notably bass cabs and PA stuff.

Was that for something ridiculously expensive or what? I ordered a keyboard off them, I had none of that kind of carry on. Didn't get any confirmation of order / shipping mails of them or anything though, which they say they send.

Be very weary of camera shops run out of Brooklyn, NY. They all have a reputation for carrying out switch & bait operations & sell grey-market goods.

Yeah, we ordered a few things from... Can't remember the name now, but they tried a few things on us and in the end me mate cancelled his card, just to be safe. Hot buys he's used before, so it's kosher.

so it's kosher.

funny you should say kosher 'cause all the reputatable camera stores (B&H, Adorama) in NY are all run by ultra-orthodox hasidic jews. pigtails galore.

Mmmmm.

Now you're making me feel guilty for considering said products

thomann. you've probably gotten enough reassurance already but era feck it, here's some more:

I bought a drumkit off them last autumn. I saved about €300 off the irish price. shipping cost an unbelievably sound €23 (for a five piece drumkit in two massive boxes!!!). it took about 2-3 weeks to deliver.

overall I found them to be seriously mega german efficient. I emailed them with loads of questions and shit and they were all answered withing 48 hours. I did have to send a scan of the credit card alright. apparantly if the price of the order is high (my order was about €1100) then they like to see some details/proof. fair enough i suppose. I was a bit edgy about it but it was grand. there haven't been any crates of fake rolex watches/viagra/russian housewives showing up on the credit card bill so...

in other words, highly recommended! :)

PS: Ratmonkey. do you play the keyboard??
