trensmat are an independent record label currently based in ireland, specialising in transmitting drone, noise and oscillations ...on vinyl.

july 2006 sees the telescopes opening proceedings for trensmat with a very limited 7" ep of free drone audio druidry. side a contains the seven and a half minute amm meets suicide groove of dsm-1v axis 1:307.46 - the dsm term for night terrors. side b builds a brilliant and atmospheric subterranean world of drone and white noise using household objects - true metal machine music.

sample audio and limited pre-release copies are now available.

the telescopes have been pushing audio frontiers since 1988 releasing now regarded classics on creation, cheree and what goes on. in 2002 after an eight year void they returned with the third wave lp on nyc label double agent. their new sound is characterised by improvised free drone noise pieces, which have been released by hungry audio, fourier transform, double agent and reissues on revola, spaceage, midsummer madness and the committee to keep music evil prompting the nme to declare "the genius of the telescopes".

"in another universe altogether... incredible" - nathaniel cramp, nme
"sublimely present music, knowingly spontaneous" - frances may morgan, plan b
"creating their own language" - howard byrom, channel 4's ideas factory
"a swarm of subterranean brilliance" - jennifer allan, angry ape

forthcoming from trensmat in 2006 :
trensmat 002 : mugstar 7”
trensmat 003 : the telescopes 7”

wow - blast from the past... i had two early telescope lp's on creation which were kinda very good (at the time, anyway)... thought they'd fucked off and left us ages ago... this sounds completely different and really interesting

actually, on the back of this thread, i went and checked out their discography... i've got 'taste' and 'to kill a slow girl walking' hidden up in my attic... thought they'd canned it after that - must have buried my head in the sand or something...

...better refamiliarise myself

after that they did the whole indie psych/dance thing ala primal scream with a couple of singles 'everso' and 'celeste'. think they did an album around that time too. they kind of change their colours easily enough. still though, they're a great band. be well up for hearing this thing

Can't wait to hear this myself.Samples sound the business.
Can't see this 7" being available for very long though.

Great to see an Irish label releasing this!
A damn fine release to start with also.

i think the majority of telescopes stuff was re-issued last year
laboured off taped copies of their releases for the most part but managed to buy 'hash' a coupla months ago in tower on cd
i reckon it's the laces in their shoes

Does anyone have a copy of The Telescopes "4" album that I could get a copy of ???

Great to hear about that label .|..|
