i saw an interview with him on jonathan woss, he said it was a bit surreal, that he was asked to perform as part of the whole 'wall coming down' business, and for the laugh he asked to sing on top of the wall, thinking they'd tell him precisely in clipped tones to go and fuck off with himself, and instead they agreed, and within a fortnight, he found himself singing atop the wall. in overly tight leather and an impractical haircut.

he actually came comes across quite sound, with a strong sense of his own ridiculousness and an ability to take the piss out of himself. of course, there's still the Hooked on a Feeling video to be taken into account, which plumbs new depths of surreality.
