The Cure vs. The Carpenters HOOT Night, Fri 26th (1 Viewer)

i got into the arty thing with those two keyboards mentalists who did a forest. the guitar was one of the best sounding guitars ever.

"deadly hoot"
"music hoot"
"craps hoot"

Thanks for the great & awful Hoot theme suggestions.

Do you want artistic freedom to play The Fabrics Hoot...songs related to cotton, silk, naugahide, etc...or do you want 200 people through the door?

The more openly themed Hoots are so poorly attended that we weren't invited back more than once.

What to do? What to do?

A good theme allows for us to play songs we love AND gets people in the door.

Suggestions are really helpful so please let me know...

I defo want to do a New Order vs. ....The Supremes?
...Streisand?

Juxtaposition is nice.

Not sure about New Order Tom. Most ordinary punters only know a handful of songs. The Hoots that worked best when it was band vs band was the Beatles/Madonna Hoot and the Pixies/Talking Heads ones. Diana Ross vs The Cure was amazing too but the level to which those bands were rehearsed at that Chicago hoot would put most of the Dublin bands to shame.

Diana Ross vs ................Kate Bush?

You've never had Kate Bush as a major part of a Hoot?
Why, Tom?
Why?

Shall I shoot myself now?

and...

WE'VE BLOODY ALREADY DONE QUEEN YOU MUPPETS!

I've always liked Guilty Pleasures but I simply don't trust folks to promote their participation in the Hoots to get an audience to show up.

I can hear folks in my head already going 'Guilty Pleasures? Whas dah?'

Barf.

In fairness, we could do a GP Hoot in the Lower Deck...that would be fun.
