There's a very nice treat in store on Sunday 27th November, when Mr. Terry Edwards of The Scapegoats / Gallon Drunk / Lydia Lunch / Tindersticks / (the list is too long to mention in full...) brings his sax and laptop to Lazybird. Terry recently supported and played with Lydia Lunch - his solo sax and laptop set was nothing short of fantastic and is sure to go down a treat at Lazybird! Don't miss it!

* Terry Edwards' solo career has seen a steady string of releases, both with & without his band The Scapegoats, featuring originals such as Boots Off!! alongside highly innovative cover versions of The Fall, Captain Beefheart and Miles Davis, played "with a sax in one hand and a brick in the other" (NME).
* The eclecticism in his own music mirrors his session work & contributions to other artists output, for which he is, perhaps, better known - from left-field heavyweights such as Lydia Lunch, Tindersticks and Spiritualized to the more mainstream (Madness, David Gray, Perfecto Allstarz) via Jesus & Mary Chain and Julian Cope who straddle both camps.
* As a member of Gallon Drunk in the early 90s, Terry recorded a side project with frontman James Johnston (currently a Bad Seed), co-writing the music for a groundbreaking "illustrated word" album with crime writer Derek Raymond. This new release is in a similar vein, with beautifully haunting melodies and improvisations replacing the spoken word element over finely-honed electro/acoustic
soundscapes.
* The solo performances showcase Terry playing saxophone and pocket trumpet over pre-recorded soundscapes, drawing largely on the new album, but with some old favourites thrown into the mix to balance the old & the new - look out for Never Understand, Well you needn't and, of course, Harlem Nocturne.
"A pretty weird choice of theme statements played in a dignified manner over backing tapes of rock, funk and noise, often sounding like a busker in a busy street." - The Guardian
"The pattern for each track is a stream of textured electronics with Edwards alongside spinning saxophone tone poems" - The Wire
"Terry Edwards - a man known for his dexterity on saxophones of all types, his pocket trumpet and his keen sense of irony" - The Times
