Can you paint cds? I mean I know its physically possible but could it banjax someone's cd player if they put a cd with a painted label on it in their stereo?

Hm. I'd imagine it wouldn't be a great big deal, as long as no bits of paint started flying off at high speed. And they probably would.

Piant it then put one of those plasticy see-throughey sticky covers on it.

If it's a CD-R then you'll most likely be reducing its life expectancy of the disc by huge amounts. Paint, ink and adhesives quickly leak through the shite top layer and turn it into a coaster called "Skippy" very quickly.

If you want CD-Rs to last, keep them out of sunlight, don't write anything on them and keep them in a wallet or case.

Or just go ahead and paint on it and give the customers a few weeks of colourful goodness.

Thanks for your help everyone. I might make a potato stamp for them or just leave the CDs unlabelled.
A further, somewhat related comment, but does anyone else have literally dozens of used CD-rs cluttering up the place with no details written on them. I think i must be a masochist cos there's fuggin loads of em lying about uncategorised and unloved which wreck your head when you're tryna find something important. Ah well. My own fault. Oh yeah another question what's a reasonable price to charge for a 4 or 5 track CD-r?

Never had problems with spray painted/poster painted cdrs. Guess it depends on the brand. Imation seem to be decent.
