Sideproject play their first Dublin show in two years this Saturday in The Twisted Pepper.
Also on the bill for the night are the superb Former Monarchs and the mind bending Narwhals.

Sideproject
Sideproject is a Cork based post rock 5 piece which since forming in early 2006 has played a significant role in the Irish alternative scene. With two very well received EPs, countless shows and two national tours under its belt the band went on hiatus for a year following the performance at the Hard Working Class Heoroes Festival in 2008. Since that date the band’s shows have been reduced however every now and then when the stars allign and the band members find themselves reunited new material is generated and shows are still played.
One such show is lined up for June 4, which will mark the bands first Dublin show in two years. It promises to be a memorable affair to say the least.

Former Monarchs
They didn't really used to be kings, but Former Monarchs are nonetheless determined to make a royal impression on crowds in Ireland and the UK in 2011.
Formed in 2010 from the ashes of local cult acts Burn Us Both – pun unintended - and The Avalanche Effect, Former Monarchs' influences draw heavily from some great underground English acts of the 2000s such as Reuben and Oceansize, as well as the sadly-defunct Danish trio Marvin's Revolt.
Their sound interweaves edgy guitar lines and a thumping rhythm section, with strong emphasis on vocal and instrumental harmonies.
Having released their first songs online and won acclaim for their early live shows during the first months of 2011, the band will release their as-yet untitled first EP in May, with Irish and UK tours to follow in swift succession.

Narwhals
A sonic mess of serene ambient swells and drones, with low end synths. Drawing influences from the masters of modern minimalism such as La Monte Young and Pauline Oliveros, Narwhals play long form compositions that are scored and often improvised over.
