Here..I have a Yamaha Compass Series Electric/Acoustic.
It started putting out a dirty, distorted sound recently.
I was told it's either the battery or the pick-up needs replacing.
Bought a fresh 9v battery but no different..still distorting...however after trying the new 9v I tested it w the battery-tester it came with which showed the battery was close to dead..straight out of the wrapper, into the Yamaha and its dead.
Could my semi-acoustic be bleeding the battery at an unholy rate?

Tips n shit plz.

Thats weird. if you still have that battery try it in something else. It certainly sunds like it realted to the battery.

Has th guitar taken a knock recently?

How dead was the battery and can you try another one, this time measure the battery before it goes in to make sure it isn't a dud.

At a guess it sounds like there's a short that's draining the battery and causing the distortion.
