Gonna be working on a bands website and they want to sell their mp3s on-line. They haven't quite got delusions of grandeur as they have started to get playtime on major radio stations, so there's a decent chance somebody will wanna buy a track or two.

Can anyone suggest the best way to go about this? I see there are plenty of sites that offer hosting/downloads to up and coming bands. Anyone ever use such a site?

It's well worth giving artists first a gander.

http://www.artists-first.net

It allows you to sell full album downloads/individual tracks, singles, mobile content (it allows you to create realtones on-screen),videos etc. but you control the pricing and it's like having your own itunes on your site.

Payment options are paypal/mobile phone SMS (Britain/germany/USA/Ireland and a few others) and they report sales to Neilsen (USA charts) the OCC (UK Charts) and Chart track (Irish charts).

They used to charge €18 for a setup, but, I think it's free now.
