...Did yiz hear what they did with a Chinese woman who had SARS symptoms last week? She went to St.Vincents hospital and they just checked her out a little, gave her a mask, and sent her back to a Youth Hostel! .....Ha ha ha :p The incompetence of our own country never fails to amaze me. They have zero preparations here, in the inevitable case of more SARS outbreaks. But the doctors in charge are arguing about their paychecks. Which is cool.....

......I'm not using the bleedin DART if these outbreaks grow in Dublin within the next 3 weeks. Coz the DART will be like a mobile breeding ground. Doing a tour of all the towns. Fantastic! !bog

....Chicken Balls!

"Doctors were last night trying to trace anyone who may have been in contact with a woman with SARS-like symptoms, who was released from hospital to a Dublin hostel at the weekend..."

It is kinda hilarious.....what they're saying...

"Sorry about this but we sent a woman roaming Dublin with a life-threatening virus which is quite contagious. If you see her drop us a line, eh?"

You've only got a 4% chance of kicking the bucket. And the youngest person to die from it so far was 37 years old. So everybody hide yer Grannies

The Minister for Health, Mr Martin, has admitted the strike by public health doctors means "we are not at full capacity in terms of dealing with an issue like this".

yes. mental capacity, the idiot fuckheads.

"As a precautionary measure, she was given a mask and advised if there was any change in her condition to come back to A+E".
The results of blood tests on the woman are expected today.

what kind of change in her condition would be necessary for her to be quarantined, do you reckon? umm, death, maybo?
and they let her out before the blood test results have come back from the lab? we're definitely not dealing with rocket scientists here (i know, they're doctors, not rocket scientists, but you kind of presume some degree of competence from the people in whose hands you are expected to entrust your lives to)

actually, it'd be fun to walk down grafton st with a face mask on, coughing and spluttering underneath it. stop into BT2 and keep rubbing your nose and sneezing and then picking up the clothes

Has anyone actually been cured of it? or are there thousands of people sitting in hospitals half sick?

Hundreds recover everyday from it. Its not like AIDS or anything. Its a mutation of the common cold. The real danger is to the Elderly, and young children.

I heard that children weren't picking it up as easily: http://www.rediff.com/news/2003/apr/11sars1.htm
They probably would have less a chance of surviving it though with their little lungs.

So therefore it's pretty much like yer standard flu (which has probably killed a hell of alot more people in the same timeframe). Bit of a crap health scare. Ebola was much more hardcore...still have nightmares about that...:(
