Republican Attack Ad - fucking grotesque (1 Viewer)

Was over in the US last week. All the ads on telly at the moment are smear campaigns. "some dude raped some 10 year old and such and such was the governer and didn't ask for the death penalty - ban this sick filth (by voting for some other dude)". And that was one of the more tasteful ones. They make irish elections look like Jane Austen.

Newstalk have been following these adverts over past few days, one actually said '<insert name> has approved projects that force young girls to watch porno with electrode attached to their genitalia'. It fucking nuts that this sort of stuff is legal. In any other case its slander but when its political its ok!

No they're not.

Thats a stupid ad. It's not gona turn opinion either way. It's just junk.

Pft. hmph.

The reason they do these adverts is because they actually get votes......fucking scary if ya ask me!

In case of the porno thing, maybe they can't sue because it's true. I imagine that it's probably a misrepresentation of some experiment carried out by some research project which received funding that was in some way approved by the politician in question .....

that ad is pretty tame in comparison to some of the others that have aired.

politics = dirty tricks.

anyone see rush limbaugh go off on micael j fox?

Yeah I think that needs to be explained. Go off on? Is that a sex thing?

If I was Harold I'd call her. She's obviously gagging for it.

Texas number: 972 938 2433.

Ask for Johanna.

Or that durty bird off the ad.

Either will get you thru.

That whole ad thing is ludicrous. The actors are so bad it just comes across as shit.

And that type of tactic is on its way over here now according to Sam Smyth in today's Irish Independent!

[FONT=Verdana, Arial]New departure for parties as FF and FG sign gurus for campaign

THE two main political parties have signed up US experts to fight the dirtiest election campaign of modern times.
Fianna Fail and Fine Gael have employed top-flight American spin doctors with vast experience of 'negative advertising' to win the dogfight for power.
The emergence of 'hired guns' from overseas signals a new departure for Irish parties.
The campaign is already set to be the most abrasive and bitter for decades with the main players planning to target each other with highly personalised campaigns.
The Irish Independent can reveal that some of the most feared strategists in America will enter the fray to advise the parties on how to emerge victorious from the bruising campaign.
Fine Gael is to almost double its advertising spending budget this year, splashing out an estimated €3.5m on adverts, compared to about €2m last year.
Fianna Fail is also planning to increase its spending.
A senior Fianna Fail party official yesterday admitted: "This looks like the beginning of a nasty, negative election campaign."

Sources say Washington-based consultants are almost certainly behind Fine Gael's launch yesterday of an unprecedented personal campaign targetting Michael McDowell.

It start offs with a shot of the Magazine Fort in the Park. Camera pans down to the road. A Mercedes pulls up beside a rent-boy, a sheepish looking politician-type, slowly winds down his windit.

"Do you have the er, time....?"

Etc.

It was bound to happen. The durt is out there now; it's bound to be used.

i like the new anti mcdowell ad.probably just cause i hate mcdowell.hopefully he`ll spontaneously combust in the mean time.

i hate mcdowell but i think i hate that ad more. it's an everyday reminder of just how fucked up things are. i mean it's one thing saying that mcdowell's policies on crime prevention aren't working but reducing all the blame and reason to one dickhead doesn't tackle any of the issues that need to be addressed. it's just another diversion. i'm sure fine gael have ALL the answers.
