Hey,
Can anyone offer tales of experiences/advice/info. for releasing music on vinyl (7" to be precise)?
I just need to get a realistic view on what weight to go for, length of tracks per side, mastering (Aidan Foley was already rec'd to me as a vinyl M.E. yay or nay?)

.. and I'm thinking of going with the Czechs for duplication.
I'd just like to hear the thoughts of people who have released stuff on vinyl before.
Please and thank you! ...

7 inch's that don't have 33rp/45rpm marked on them are a pain in the ass!
I'm gonna release loads of em!Muwahhaaaa!!!

Biggest deal is trying to sell em mate.
www.gzvinyl.com has ALOT Of info these days in their forms faq ETC...

that's the most important thing with all releases, not just vinyl. Consider how many you realistically think you can sell.

click search
then click advanced search
under the search forums box in the 'key word' box type in vinyl
dropdown box underneath select 'titles only'
under the search options box 'show results' as threads not posts

Czechs are great for the duplication. Dano Barry might do one-track mastering jobs for you for a good price.

Selling them is really hard. Basically, virtually no-one buys them. But they are cool ....

Thanks Hugh.

I understand the selling issue... 'just I've already got the *will* ... and am sorting out an interesting *way* :)

Will you be giving them out free with selected packets of your new brand of breakast cereal? or perhaps as limited edition flexi-discs on your comic, let's call it 'Ivy League'.:D

Or maybe just including a CD-R so that folks buy it?

I think that's a good idea. Another good idea is some sort of one-off download code so people who buy it can also download an mp3 ....
