Redneck Manifesto - cork gig - march 2003 (3 Viewers)

i too hate paying for stuff. and further more, i hope no one in this *scene* makes any fucking money so they spend the rest of their lives being insular and listening to Jesus Jones down the Whelans of a friday night.

Pricks.

paying for stuff? bollocks. toasted heretic wouldn';t have stood for that.

I'm starting up a club where we pay you to come along. And the music is all be improv, so you'll have never heard it before. And you won't be allowed to talk to anyone. And there won't be any lights. Or toilets. And you're only allowed in if you're disabled.

yeah. up there with... em... with....................... the saw doctors?

If you listen to a Toasted Heretic record now, it doesn't sound very good at all.
Actually, that was probably true then, but I was young and impressionable.

i too was young, impressionable, and they were friends of friends of mine. which was why i ended up all too frequently at gigs of theirs in such lovely establishments as the new inn (that place near christchurch was called the new inn, wasn't it?).

The new inn gig. stano used to play there all the time. i saw paranoid visions there on new years eve, 1989. rappa.

yet again our pasts collide minka

they were friends of friends of mine too

Julian keeps popping up on tv. He was on questions and answers last year

Remember his lyric: "Don't scuff my tan, I'm a beautiful angry young man"

hope the rednecks get your fair share of the money. the way i see it the tickets are 13.50, so multiply that by 250 people(at least) = 3,375-300 for posters flyers=3,075-300 for the venue(i know for a fact he gets it this cheep) now that leaves 2,775 between the bands. Now i know weevil will get between 0-100 euro. so lets be good to the lads and give them 175, that still leaves 2600euro.
now i'd say the rednecks are getting between 300-500 so that still leaves 2100euro bandicoot.

2100 euro, and he doesn't even like music.

i dare some one to tell me this is right.

Dave's garbage

Dave

you'ra talking complete and utter shite.

1. While we would dearly love to get the Half Moon for 300 euro sadly this is not the case and never has been.

2. We've been promoting for over ten years and not once have we EVER taken more fro the door than the headlining band.

3. Your figures are based on 250 people paying in to the gig, There is no guarantee of this happening so your figures are probably erroneous and if that DOES happen then Rednecks will get a hell of a lot more than 300-500 euro. We have no problem whatsoever paying bands what they're worth and never have done. On average we pay the headline band gets 70% of the door after expenses.

4. The reason the show is in the Half Moon is that the rednecks sold out thew Lobby bar last time we did them in Cork and the Half Moon is the next logical progression for an act of their quality.

Next time get your facts right before spouting off a bucket of shite as you'\ve just done

Brian

Isn't he a fancy "writer" now?

Pete's correct about listening to Toasted Heretic today tho'
they do sound very dated...I loved them back then buh'

they did cassette only releases initially didn't they?

a rather duff young band and I played at a very embarrassing battle of the bands in Rathmines back then and the first prize was to support Toasted Heretic in Whelans

we came second

Not at all...

In fact I'm extremely impressed. Anyways, I'll see you this evening. Tycho Brahe should be worth it... and don't go spoiling it by "playing" bass...

i think that episode has shaken billcakes a bit more than we thought ... his writing, it's like ghost writing, a kind of shadow of his writing's former self. yes, i know about ghost writing, this is different.
