I bought a shit one for about a tenner in Dixons a while ago but I want one that will mask the deficiencies in my vocality. I would prefer not to spend over €100 but if there are really good ones in the €100-€150 range tell us about them. Thanks in advance. Live long agus prosper.

Presuming "plugging into my computator" means it's a minijack connection.
This doesn't need phantom power, so with an xlr to minijack connector bobs your uncle.

or if you have phantom power option on your audio interface:

€166 - although you'd pick up and NT-1 (as opposed to the NT1a above) for cheaper, like this:

Yeah it's a minijack. Thanks for your help. I was thinking about SM58s as I used to use 'em years ago but didn't know if there was anything more fangled and better at same price.

Yeah the 58 is a workhorse, and sounds good.

Also if you unscrew the top off it sounds pretty much the same as an SM57, so you can use that really well on a guitar amp too.

Although it'd probably be grand.
Borrow a few mics and see what suits your voice.
Hit Hugh Rogers up for a lend of his KEL HM-1, although that'll need phantom too.

best recording studio i was ever in, black box in france - they had dozens of stunning mics, all permanently connected and live, arranged in an arc in front of the singer, the engineer would just quickly move the next mic to try directly in front. made mic selection sooo quick and easy, was amazing

That's the way to do it alright.

i would have thought that cheap shite mics would be better for masking the deficiencies in your voice and that better ones would make them more obvious (and also emphasise the nuances and natural beauty in your voise should you have anything like that). for masking your voice i'd recommend a ring modulator and one of those 20 euro danelectro black metal distortion pedals.
