Discovery by Pet Shop Boys and The Velvet Underground And Nico, 2nd hand cds from a stall in the People's Park in Dun Laoghaire yesterday. The Pet Shop Boys is excellent - it's a 1991 compilation so it's all their earlier hits which I prefer. I didn't have And Nico on cd so it's nice to tick that box. Easily their best work in my opinion (Loaded 2nd). I bought Bjork's Homogenic on cd in Tower the other week. Classic.

Discography, yes. Clearly I can't read. I think I was conflating the album titles from Disco and Very (clutching at straws I know).

The Guardian gave a good write up for the Simple Minds boxset. I never thought of them as a credible band, but it seems their first five albums were the real deal.

Definitely. I've been saying it for years. The first album is average but the next four (or five if you include Sister Feelings Call as a separate LP) are excellent. It's my third time buying them. Then they gradually lost it. Sparkle In The Rain (1983) was big let down while Once Upon A Time (1985) only has two decent tracks [Ghostdancing and Oh Jungleland].

Great to see them back and touring the good stuff. Anyone go to the Olympia?
