anyone else with a Macbook suffering from this?
been working fine for five months, now it decides
to make life more exciting by powering off at random times.
i've tried the pmu reset ,pram reset things, and it helped for a day
but I'm back now to switching off at any mome

Do you have a wireless mouse? Maybe the batteries are running low? I have one that does that to windows the odd time if the batteries haven't been recharged. Sends the wrong signal.

Of course, I doubt it's that.

But just thought I'd mention it.

I think there's a lot of that happening. You've probably checked the boards but anyway, just in case:

Replacement logic board seems to be the thing.

Its all about over heating and stuff.Theres websites dedicated to it, its unbelievable. There is a recall thing where they'l fix it for you.Personally i'm waiting for the next macbooks, till they sort their shit out!

cheers guys, I'm going to send it in for repair as soon as i back everything up. i also rembered that i had installed an extra gig of third party ram a month ago, which may be exacerbating the problem.
It's bad voodoo for sure but i've had worse happen to me on windows

Installed 3rd part ram on my G5 before and all hell broke loose.
Shutdowns, kernal panics the works
if the bus speeds dont match, then your in for some fun

but seriously though, this is fucking ridiculous. sometimes it will be on all day and yes it will get hot, but it doesnt turn off.

sometimes it's not the actual computer that shuts down, but the backlight that lights the screen will go off. i have to very carefully look at the screen and i can just make out where the mouse is and therefore shut it off. but fucks sake, its worse when youre in the middle of writing something.
i think Macs are beautiful computers but they need to sort this shit out, seems to happen to everyone whether its an iBook, powerbook or macbook.
fucks sake.

Hahaha i love it. Wait until someone starts reeling out mad virii for macs. Millions of graphic designers the world over chatting on message boards about "so what's up with my mouse moving the opposite direction to what i'm moving?"

excellent!
i was on the verge of bringing it in for repair,
I literally said "this is the last straw" today
just hope it works now!

cheers Thai.|..|
