What a guy !

i don't think he played for leverkusen. but he'll do. i'm just not convinced.....

things about Stefan...
born: 18th April 1965
joined Arsenal: from Benfica in May 1994 for £1.8million
His father is from Germany.
He played as a youth-pro in Bayer Leverkusen
Malmo FF bought him. Malmo had a very strong team at that time with among others: Martin Dahlin (Bor.M.Gladbach), Patrik Andersson (Bor.M.Gladbasch), Jonas Thern (Roma), Roger Ljung (MSV Duisburg) and Roy Hogdson (Swizz national side) as coach.
Bayern Munchen wanted to buy him, but only if he would throw his swedish passport and become a german. He disagreed because he knew that one day he would be good enough for the Swedish national team. And in 1995, when he left Arsenal, the same problem made him turn from Germany to Italy for his next career move.
He was one of the best players in a catastrophic swedish team in Italy '90. But in the last game against Costa Rica, he made a terrible mistake that led to Costa Ricas second goal (2-1).
After that he went to Benfica, where he played until joining Arsenal.
It's pronounced the German way (to rhyme with "hearts")
He left Arsenal for Fiorentina in the summer of 1995.
Thanks to Staffan Noteborg for most of this information
