What's yer verdict on that book? I think it's alright, bit too "academic" sometimes..
the academic style is one of the things i liked about it most to be honest.
but i was familiar with most of the theory he touches on before i came to the book.
much rather see discussion and interpretation than 'this person did this and then this record was released'(if it was in a journalistic style i don't think i would have enjoyed the book at all,way its done seems much more relevant and true to the music he's dealing with).
few people i would have like to have seen discussed that weren't there, but whatever, that seems a bit irrelevant and i don't think the purpose of the book was to try fit everything in.
really enjoyed it.one of the best pieces of writing about music i've looked at in a long time.
still have the last chapter to go but i don't think it'll drastically change my opinion on the book or anything.
